Oyster Bay, New York September 30, 2018

The Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park in Oyster Bay, New York remains one of my all time favorite venues for a dog show. This show of distinction by The Westbury Kennel Association, INC. has never let people down and with this perfect backdrop on a glorious autumn day it made this one of those shows no one should miss.
I arrived just when the sun was rising, following a long winding path towards the show grounds where people and their dogs were pulling into the grounds and setting up the pens and table for their dogs. Quietly I inhaled the peacefulness of a new day as I gathered my cameras and watched the dogs and the people quietly walk with their dogs in the distant sheep pasture. At this hour on Sunday morning it always feel like one of those blessings life grants us when we graze across a field where quietly people walk and just inhale and take in quietly. I embrace these early morning arrivals as a time to just set the tone for whats to come. Personally I can’t take images when I am not relaxed and filled with a love- these photographs were all taken while watching what was before me and lovingly taking what felt right.
Hats off to all of these devoted people who do this week after week for the love of the breeds they show. You are the reason I go to these shows and are all champions for what you do.
I want to thank The Westbury Kennel Association,INC. and the Nassau Dog Training Club for yet another perfectly planned and friendly gathering that welcomed not just dog people – but families that had come to the Planting Fields and stumbled upon your wonderful show. The thoughtful announcements that welcomed and explained some dog show etiquette was very helpful to the many people who had never experienced a dog show before this past weekend. It was perfect! The Club covered everything from vet information, emergency people information and considerate announcements inviting spectators to feel free to ask questions. Well done!
