Mr. ( Jones) Bones, The Great English Mastiff of Amsterdam

The reason I chose for this breed is that I got fascinated by it when I was a young teenager and concluded that the Old English mastiff is the most impressive amongst the Molosser breed. You could say it’s the “King of the Molosser breeds”.

It’s together with the French Mastiff the most ideal type of dog personality wise. So gentle, so attached, so kind, so trustworthy and caring and protective for your children. They just want to lay at your feet all day and hug with you and protect you. And play a game when you feel like it.
They will never run away from you (alsno not during puberty), but instead they become stressed when they lose sight of you. They will always follow you everywhere (even to the toilet) and you will never walk alone. (that’s one of the hard parts of losing them, walking alone again)

And by it’s appearance I would say that the right type of English Mastiff is simply the most stunning looking dog, period. So massive, so huge, powerful and beautiful. They are very noble looking and behaving, and thus it’s not surprising that they were the dogs of the British nobility.
Truly a lion amongst dogs by appearance, as often people on the streets that witness him comment that he looks like a lion.
Which reminds me of Sydenham Edwards famous quote from around 1800 in the Cynographia Britannica:

What the Lion is to the Cat the Mastiff is to the Dog, the noblest of the family; he stands alone, and all others sink before him. His courage does not exceed his temper and generosity, and in attachment he equals the kindest of his race

How I would refer to “Mr. (Jones) Bones”?:

The Hound Lord Commander of the most Excellent order of the British Empire,
Lord (of the) Bones,
The breaker of Bones,
My sweet son,
The king of Amsterdam Oost

“he appears self-assured, gentle, loving, and as though he knows he owns wherever his paws go”

He has a lot of personality and sense of humor. Very intelligent and very calm. He is a gentle and kind boy. He may look like a beast, yet he is actually just a sensitive little boy.
Bones can be shy when he first meets people, although in general with females he is mostly confident and at ease. He is quite the woman magnet. In general they find him very cute and beautiful and like to hug with this big bear.

– [ ] He simply enjoys to hug all day and receive a massage and always has a desire to keep in contact with you by touching you with his big paw.  Laying at your feet most of the day, snoring and farting.
I always laugh when I see such a huge beast jumping and twisting around with a big smile on his face, wanting to play with you….such a funny
